
Management Aptitude Test (MAT) is conducted all over India by All India Management Association (AIMA) for the MBA aspirants. This exam has 200 questions to be answered in time duration of two and a half hours. The paper consists of five sections that have 40 questions each. Subjects are as follows:
•Language Comprehension
•Data Analysis and Sufficiency
•Mathematical skills
•Indian and global environment
•Intelligence and critical reasoning.
AIMA conducts MAT four times in a year. MAT results are considered by various B-schools across India for admission into management courses. Difficulty quotient of MAT is not as same as CAT, and then also students have to prepare for MAT well in advance. Here we see Some useful tips to crack MAT:
•Practice makes you perfect. Go through the syllabus of MAT and practice sections of Intelligence & Critical reasoning and Data Analysis. These subjects might seem to be tricky for most of the students. Best thing to do is go through sample papers and maintain notes of the important points. Practicing regularly would help you solve complicated problems easily.
•Speed and accuracy. While preparing for MAT be sure to excel over speed and accuracy. If you have good speed and accuracy then you can score high and perform brightly in the exams. It would accentuate your performance in the exam. If you are aware of how many questions to attempt in every section and time limit for them, then you can complete the sections on time.
•Enroll in a good institute. For successful completion and understanding syllabus of MAT it is advisable to enroll in a good institute that prepares you for the exam. They teach you the entire syllabus and make you familiar with the exam format. Also they conduct regular mock tests to give students enough practice. At coaching institutes students get to participate in group discussions and gain hold over speaking prowess. As everyone at the institute is aiming to score high in MAT exams, this competitive atmosphere keeps the students motivated.
•Read a lot. Students should read articles on various topics which would give them hold over the comprehension section. Reading provides you speed and accuracy that are helpful for this section.
•Solving sample question papers are key to success. Solve as many mathematics papers as you can, this would give you good practice and increase speed and precision. Be thorough with the tables, cube roots, square roots, conversions from percent to fraction and other important formulas. As you gain accuracy and confidence in solving problems, apply short-cuts for speed.
•Improve the general awareness. While preparing for MAT work to improve the general awareness. Indian and global environment section tests your general awareness. Keep yourself updated with national and international current affairs through news dailies, magazines, news channels and internet.
•Confidence is the key to success. Becoming nervous would spoil your preparation. Stay calm and confident, this would help you solve question papers with accuracy and on-time.
•Start your exam preparation early. At least 2-4 months advance preparation is required before the exam date.
